| DETAILS: | We are proud to present Doug Sydnor, a local architect, a member of the Friends of the Scottsdale Public Library and now the author of "Scottsdale Architecture," which features the evolving architecture of Scottsdale from 1888 to 2008. The various architectural themes include early town building, the creative arts and tourism impact, post World War II development, the character debate during the 1970’s and transitioning into the 21st Century. He also addresses the broad citizen-driven initiatives and City of Scottsdale policies that set the tone for Scottsdale’s high quality building environment, many of which have become national models and influenced other communities. It presents an appreciation of the architects who have made a positive impact on the architecture of Scottsdale including Frank Lloyd Wright, Paolo Soleri, Bennie Gonzales, and William Bruder. "Scottsdale Architecture" is the first architectural publication of its type in Scottsdale and the northeast valley community. |
